James “Jim” Markuson, 63, died peacefully on the 5th of November, 2015, at his home in Castle Rock, Minnesota.

James was born on the 25th of February in 1952 to parents Clara and Ernest Markuson, who raised him in Elko, Minnesota. After dabbling in construction work, Jim found his calling driving trucks, working for Lakeville Motor Express as a truck driver and winning several awards for his skill behind the wheel. He was also a trained farrier who worked with the horses and ponies that lived on his family’s hobby farm.

His interests included fishing, riding motorcycles, and watching sports with his kids. Jim loved catching walleye, especially on Lake Vermillion, and his passion for fishing was infectious. On his beloved Harley Davidson, he rode whenever he could, once all the way to the Canadian Rockies. He was also a devoted and caring father who loved his children and sacrificed whatever was needed to make their lives better.

He is survived by his children Christopher Markuson and his wife Breanna, Annie Markuson, and Lindsey Markuson, his former wife Carol Gagner, his brother Earl Markuson, his sisters Carol Markuson, Dolores Swedin and her husband Gary, and Jane Fischbach and her husband Mike, and his grandchild Elliot Gehrke. He is preceded in death by his mother Clara and his father Ernest. He will be dearly missed.
