It is with heavy hearts that we announce John Eldridge Berg, 56, of Eagan, MN passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on January 18, 2015. Funeral Services will be 12:00 pm Friday, January 23rd at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Northfield with visitation Friday 1 hour prior to Services at the Church. A reception will follow the Service.

John Eldridge Berg was born March 23, 1958 in Winona, MN, son of Robert and Cindy (Kolb) Berg. He was raised in Fridley and graduated from Fridley High School. He was united in marriage to Dareth Elizabeth Jensen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield on April 7, 1984. They made their home in Eagan and John soon began his painting business, J.B. Painting, Inc.

John will be remembered for his gregarious, kind nature. He was a family man who worked as a painting contractor and spent his weekends at his cabin on Upper Hay Lake. He loved watching sports, most importantly his daughters’ cross country and track races. He enjoyed traveling, often to visit family in Tampa, Florida and Chicago, Illinois. He loved animals, especially his cat Toby and grand-dog Kirby, and had recently taken up bird watching.

John is survived by his parents Robert (Sue) Berg of White Bear Lake and Cindy (Jerry) Robb of Fridley; mother-in- law Ruth Jensen of Northfield; his wife of 30 years, Dareth Berg of Eagan; three daughters: Jennifer Berg and husband Andy Merten of Minneapolis, Mallory Caswell and husband Brad of Woodbury, and Taylor Berg of Eagan; Sister Laura Garaffa and husband John of Tampa, Florida; Step Brother Scott Baker of St Paul; Sisters-in-law Diane (Jim) Giese, Debbie Jensen, Darlene Benjamin, Dena (Joe) Eggum, and Brother-in-law David (and Pat) Jensen; Nephews Michael (Lynn) Tibbetts, Jeff Tibbetts, Kyle (Carley) Benjamin, Peter Jensen, and Jordan Baker; Nieces Ali (Michael) Coyne, Heather (Michael) Stuart, Emilie Jensen, Camille Jensen (Brian Schusterman), and Gabby Garaffa. Great Nephews Bode Tibbetts, Oliver Benjamin, Philip Benjamin, Benjamin Coyne, Arthur Coyne, and Pax Schusterman; Great Nieces Emily Tibbetts, Samantha Benjamin, and Vivienne Coyne. John was preceded in death by his father-in-law Lyle Jensen.
