Lillian Ann Broske was born May 30, 1949 in Northfield, daughter of Clarence and Alma (Hohrman) Volkert and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She grew up on her parent’s dairy farm north of Northfield where she helped with chores. Lillian attended grade school at Castle Rock Elementary School where she met many life-long friends and graduated from Northfield High School in 1967. She then worked at the Lampe Law Office for 10 years.

On January 31, 1969 she was united in marriage to Raymond Edward Broske at Trinity Lutheran Church and they made their home in Farmington. In 1974 they moved to Waterford and began crop farming and raising beef cattle. In 1978 Lillian and Ray bought their own farm on Highway 19 east of Northfield where they dairy farmed until 2000 when they sold the dairy herd.

Lillian worked several years at the Castle Rock State Bank and Diversified Records in Cannon Falls until her retirement. In retirement she enjoyed taking day trips with her friends and was always willing to help others. She was an excellent cook and loved family get togethers and outings. Visiting with family and friends was a favorite pastime and the coffee pot was always on.

Lillian is survived by sons Bob (Jennifer) of Lonsdale, Ed of Northfield; daughter Tammy Broske of Northfield; sisters Sharon (Gordon) Broske of Elk River, Jane (Mel) Bruns of Mason City, IA; brothers Victor Volkert and Peter (Charleen) Volkert of Northfield; brother-in-law Bob (Pauline) Broske of Northfield; sisters-in-law Louise (Walter) Michaels and Barbara Sharp of Farmington; grandchildren Ashlee Broske, Erica Bailey, and Haley Ersfeld; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
