Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 7th at the Hauge Free Lutheran Church in Kenyon with burial at the Kenyon Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at the Church 1 hour prior to Services.

Barbara Ann (Numedahl) Estrem was born June 4, 1938 at St. Lucas Hospital in Faribault, daughter of Clifford and Pearl (Koberstein) Numedahl. Barbara grew up on her parents’ farm and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended country school in the Moland area and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1956. For the next eight years she worked at the Security State Bank in Kenyon working with a special group of people. During this time she was able to travel to Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and Norway with Carol Magee Hegseth. She also traveled to Hawaii with Jean Luebke Benson.

Barbara married Harlan Estrem on August 29, 1964, with a built-in family: Mike, Lyn, Doug and Terry. A year later Cheryl was born to complete their family. Not having brothers or sisters, Barbara felt very fortunate to have Elaine, Marilyn, Betty, and Alpha as cousins and close family. Also John and Lois, and Lois and Lowell became “her family” after she married Harlan.

Barbara loved their summer vacations “up north” and having their own cabin on Duck Lake was a “dream come true” for them. She was a member of Hauge Free Lutheran Church and was involved in the Couples Club, Circles, Sunday School and Bible Study.

Barbara worked at the Kenyon Sunset Home as an activities director from 1983 until 2007. She shared many good memories with many of the staff and residents and made lasting friendships with Melva and LaVonne. She became a resident there in the fall of 2011.

Barbara Estrem is survived by daughters Lyn Estrem and Cheryl Estrem (and special friend Denny Wickum); sons Mike (Sherry) Estrem, Doug (Tami) Estrem, Terry Estrem; 7 grandchildren Tyler, Sarah, Drew (Chelsea Burns), Kristen Eberly (Vernon), Ross, Katherine and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harlan in 2009, and son-in-law Rocky Fisher in 2010.
