Ruth Elizabeth (Rew) Hanson passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at The Three Links Care Center. She was 94 years old. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Monday, February 9th at the Chapel of the Three Links Care Center in Northfield with burial at the Northfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 1 hour prior to Services.

Ruth was born on a farm south of Pine Island, Minnesota on August 10th, 1920 to Leon and Elizabeth (Hause) Rew. After her mother died at a young age, Ruth took over the household responsibilities for the family. She graduated from West Concord High School in 1937. On September 29, 1939, she married Andrew Hanson at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They moved to Northfield, first farming with Andy’s father and then buying a farm just east of Northfield where they farmed and lived until 1999.

During their years on the farm, she raised four children, helped with all the farm work and tended a huge garden. Ruth led an active church life; teaching Sunday School for 25 years, serving on several church boards, and participating in Bible studies. She also liked to swim, bowl, play softball, cross country ski and even took up golf. Ruth enjoyed playing games and cards. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Connie(John) Gustafson, Donna(Lester) Drankwalter, Darlene(Michael) Kluznik; her grandchildren, Erin(Andy) Wyatt, Kristin(Chuck) Mifsud, Nicole Pomeroy, Amy(Ross) Albertson, Adam(Pearl) Drankwalter, Erik(Jenny) Kluznik, Andrew Kluznik, and Jonathan Drankwalter; her great-grandchildren, Colin, Taylor, and Brooke Pomeroy, Emily, Maddie, and Charlie Mifsud, Max, Luke, and Libby Albertson, and Alex and Addison Drankwalter. She is also survived by her sister, Nanda Reber, of Kasson, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Roger Rew, her son, Richard Hanson, and her husband, Andy Hanson.

Memorials may be designated for The Three Links Care Center, Bethel Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.

Ruth’s family would like to thank the staffs of Millstream Commons and Three Links Care Center for the years of love and care they gave our beloved mother.
