Kathie Sue Schlegel was born on January 11, 1955 in Canton, Ohio to Glenn and Betty Lindenbaum. She spent most of her early years in Ohio. She then graduated from Bay High School in Panama City, Florida with the class of 1974. After graduation she moved with her family to Le Sueur, Minnesota where she attended Bemidji State University and later Minnesota State University – Mankato where she studied history and sociology.

While attending college Kathie met Wayne Schlegel and they were married on August 16, 1986 at Sharon Park in Le Sueur. Shortly afterward they moved to Northfield. Kathie worked for More – 4 Deli, West Publishing, Ryt-Way and then began working at the Northfield Library where she stayed for the last 23 years. Kathie also was a Star Tribune Carrier for many years.

Kathie was very tech savvy and known by her family and friends for her special laugh. She enjoyed reading, history (especially Civil War history), rollerblading, and going on trips with her husband to Duluth and Wisconsin Dells. She especially relished time spent with her pets, family and friends.

On Wednesday evening, September 9, 2015 Kathie passed away at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Funeral Service will be on Monday, September 14, 2015, at 2 PM at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery in North Canton, Ohio. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials preferred to Prairie’s Edge Humane Society. Blessed be her memory.

Kathie is survived by her husband, Wayne Schlegel of Northfield; sisters: Laurie Steinborn (Carl) of Henderson and Patti McCully of West St. Paul; brother-in-law, Wesley Schlegel (Pat) of Le Sueur; Nieces and Nephews, Sarah Svihel (Jeff), Wendy Skelly (Andrew), James McCully, and Natalie McCully; pets: Bella, Inky, Gismo and Windy; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Glenn Lindenbaum.
