Ralph Miller Boyd was born October 12, 1934, in Castle Rock, Minnesota, the youngest of 9 children, to Oakley and Inez (Miller) Boyd. He was a 1952 graduate of Northfield High School. Ralph was united in marrage to Carmen Henderson Stowe on February 15, 1953. After marriage they made their home in Northfield until 1979 when Ralph and Carmen moved their family to Dundas, living in the same home Ralph grew up in since he was one year old.

Ralph had a passion for working with wood as a cabinet maker, craftsman and wood artist. He worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker most of his career. Later in life he returned to school and became a licensed Building Inspector. He was hired by the City of Apple Valley and remained there until his retirement in January of 1999. Following retirement, Ralph and Carmen spent the last 16 winters in McAllen, Texas, where Ralph was known as the “Music Jam Man”. The music Jams at their winter home became his love and purpose and all who knew him loved him and enjoyed his weekly productions.

Ralph was part of the Dundas City Council for a time and a member of the Northfield Turners Guild. He enjoyed gardening, pickling, hunting and going on road trips in the motorhome. He especially cherished the time he spent with his family. When they summered in the north the weekly family gatherings and happy hours were very important to him.

On Monday morning, February 8, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and family, Ralph passed away at the Northfield Hospital Long Term Care Center at the age of 81.
