Donna Marie Johnson was born April 19, 1924, in Madison, Minnesota, the daughter of Dell and Marie (Kay) Perkins. There she was raised, along with her brother and three sisters. She graduated from Madison High School. Donna then attended the University of Minnesota where she received her degree in Dental Hygiene. During that time on campus, she was selected as a snow queen. She was united in marriage to O. (Oscar) Reuben Johnson in Madison. The couple made their home in Minneapolis initially. They also lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Fargo, North Dakota before settling and living at several residences in Eagan, Minnesota. Reuben died in 2014. Donna moved to Ecumen Centennial House in 2015.

Donna enjoyed playing tennis at the tennis club, golfing and playing bridge where she and Reuben made many long lasting friendships. The two of them wintered in Sun City West, Arizona where they yearly hosted family and friends. Donna was especially fond of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always made fun for them when they came over.

On Friday evening, May 20, 2016, Donna passed away at Ecumen Centennial House in Apple Valley under the care of hospice and her two daughters at her side, at the age of 92. She is survived by her children Donna Rue (Bob) Swanson of Plymouth; Bruce Reid (Susan) Johnson of Prior Lake; Brad Lee (Karen) Johnson of Mason City, IA; Laurie Kay Sismour of Pittsburgh, PA; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; her sister Kay (Harlan) Seelhoff of Apple Valley; a brother Clint (Vynette) Perkins of New Brighton; and her brother-in-law Fred Theberath of Northfield. She is preceded in death by her husband Reuben; her grandson Michael; and her two sisters Bess Skulborstad and Fern Theberath.

Memorial services will be held Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11 AM at Northfield United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jerad Morey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
