Joseph J. DuPay, age 66, of Webster, Minnesota died Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at his home.

Joe was born May 17, 1950, in Northfield the son of William and Irene (Malloy) DuPay. He attended Northfield schools. He then worked in the Twin Cities area for John A. Dalsin and Sons as a roofer.

Joe was united in marriage to Faye Swedin on July 5, 1969, at Church of the Immaculate Conception in Lonsdale. He was drafted during the Vietnam War and entered the United States Army on December 5, 1969. The couple lived in Georgia and later transferred to Germany. After receiving his honorable discharge in November of 1971, Joe continued to serve until 1975 with the Army National Guard.

Joe and Faye returned to his home farm and he worked for a plastic factory in Webster for a short while. He then went back to work for John A. Dalsin as a commercial roofer until his retirement in December 2011.

Over the years, Joe enjoyed playing cards, snowmobiling, camping and vacationing with family and friends, hunting and fishing with his buddies, coon hunting with his favorite dog, Lad, watching his grandchildren play sports, and going fishing with Emerson. In retirement, he began raising beef cattle and farming on his 40 acres. Most of all, he was a proud husband, father and grandfather.

Joe is survived by his wife Faye of Webster, a son Daniel (and Kim) of Webster, daughter Jodie Garlie of Northfield, five grandchildren Brittany, Bailey and Brayden DuPay and Prescott and Emerson Garlie. He is also survived by his brothers Bob (and Gladyce) Broderick of Webster, Bill (and Jane) of Webster, his sisters Darlene Tripp of Faribault, Alice Paro of Northfield, Donna (and Wayne) Bauernfeind of Faribault, Joan Herda of Faribault, Gail (and Melvin) Smisek of Faribault, Colleen DuPay (and Teri Douglas) of Northfield and many nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Darrell Oppegaard, a sister Charlotte at a young age, and brothers-in-law Theodore Paro, Gene Tripp and David Herda.

Funeral services for Joe will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016, beginning at 11 AM at Christiania Lutheran Church, 26691 Pillsbury Ave, Lakeville. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church on Monday. Arrangements by Bierman Funeral Home, Northfield.
