Bonnie Owen, age 71 of Northfield, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Friday, September 30th at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 pm Thursday at the Bierman Funeral Home.

Bonnie Beverly (Lick) Owen was born June 19, 1945 in Velva, ND, daughter of Alvin and Inez (Oldervik) Lick. She was raised in Bismarck, ND where she attended school and was a member of the 1963 Bismarck High School graduating class. Following school, she moved to Rochester where she worked at her cousin’s dry cleaning business.

Here she met Dale Owen and after their marriage they worked together in the restaurant and food catering business. They later moved to Mabel, MN where they owned and operated the State Line Café for a number of years before moving to Cannon Falls, MN where they owned and operated the Corner Café.

After her divorce she went back to school to get a degree in Marketing and Merchandising and began a career with Sara Lee Haines Legs Corporation covering a 5 state area, delivering and setting up displays in retail stores. Upon the end of her career, she continued doing direct care and customer service and also began doing volunteer work. She was a long time member of the Cannon Falls VFW Auxiliary and in the 1990’s served several terms as their President and then a term as District President.

Bonnie is survived by daughters Lisa Owen of Lakewood, Ohio, Laurie Owen of Wanamingo; son Ed (Jo) Owen of Dundas; brother Al (Angie) Lick of Bismarck, ND; 9 grandchildren and many great and great greatgrandchildren; nephew Brad (Dorothy) Lick of Bismarck; great nephew Andrew Lick and great niece Amy Lick. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Lillian Lick; and nephew Brent Lick.

    Both Bonnie and her brother Al were bright shining stars in high school; always smiling, friendly, and reaching out to others. Prayers for the family for the loss of precious Bonnie.
