Dennis D. Howie was born September 10, 1949, in Northfield, Minnesota, to DuWayne and Annabelle (Koons) Howie. Dennis attended Northfield High School, participated in football and graduated with the class of 1969. He married Allyn McKay and they lived in Faribault where Dennis worked for Chadderdon Lumber. On October 25, 1979, Dennis married Debra Walburn. Dennis was employed by D & S Cement Company and worked as a mason for over 20 years.

Dennis loved playing cards, especially Euchre. He also enjoyed playing pool, baseball, hunting, fishing and watching sports. Dennis had a great sense of humor, was friendly, outgoing and looked up to. The multiple heart surgeries and procedures Dennis endured over the years kept him from doing some of his favorite things. Keeping him company throughout the day were his two favorite companions Cookie and Marty, his dogs.

Dennis passed away, at the age of 67, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis from a heart attack. He is survived by a son Sean of Northfield, three daughters Jamie (Brett) Jensen of Farmington, Kristal Howie of Eagan, Joanne Avalos of Apple Valley, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two sisters Susan Teske of Northfield, Sandy Tuomala of Faribault, and lifelong friend Richard Cluver. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Daniel and David.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 19, 2016, beginning at 7 PM at Bierman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday from 4 PM until the time of the service in the funeral home. biermanfuneralhome.com

Lifelong friend…..may the peace that eluded him in life be with him in death! He had such a good heart – and he believed. He is in safe in the arms of his Lord and Savior. And…..he has rejoined his Dundas friends, including Larry (Hagerty), and his brothers, Danny and Dennis. Rest in Paradise, Dennis!

One more goes home. RIP Dennis. I grew up with Dennis and I am sure he is playing Euchre in heaven. He was a good person and had a good sense of humor. Till we meet again…….
