Nancy was born June 22, 1951, in Northfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Orville “Pete” and Delores (Matson) Edwardsen. She was raised in Northfield and graduated from Northfield High School Class of 1969. Nancy began working at Mid America Dairy as a lab tech in Farmington. Nancy was united in marriage to Henry “LeRoy” Gatton on May 28, 1983, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. Nancy went to work at Midwest Importers in Cannon Falls where she worked as an Inventory Control Analyst for 22 years and during that time, she attended Dakota Technical College in Rosemount. Following, she worked for Rust Consulting in Faribault until retiring due to health reasons. When diagnosed with cancer in 2010, Nancy had the will to fight her illness and for nearly seven years continued to live graciously and courageously with it until the very end.

LeRoy and Nancy traveled the United States throughout but especially loved their annual trips to Hawaii. She was interested in tracing her family’s ancestry along with her daughter, Tracy. Nancy was proud of her Norwegian heritage. She enjoyed cross stitch, sewing, and making Halloween costumes. She was also a member of the Red Convertible Car Club in Northfield. She also liked an occasional ride with her husband on his Harley.

Nancy passed away, Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the age of 65, at the Northfield Hospital Long Term Care Center. Nancy is survived by her husband, LeRoy of Dundas, daughter, Tracy Edwardsen of St. Louis Park, step-daughter, Katherine (Arturo “Chivo”) Bravo Gatton of Northfield, five grandchildren, Ana Bravo Gatton, Christian Fuentes-Rivera, Uriel Fuentes-Rivera, Britni Bravo Gatton and Jaci Bravo Gatton. 3. Kathy Brekken

I was shocked and saddened to read about Nancy’s passing. I hadn’t realized she had struggled with cancer for a number of years. I will always remember her with fondness. She was a wonderful employee and always had a smile on her face. I will never forget the year she dressed as a Christmas tree, complete with lights, for our Halloween ‘do’ at Midwest. Of course she won the costume prize! My thoughts and prayers are with her whole family.

    • Tracy Edwardsen

Thank you Kathy. She loved working at Midwest and all the people there.
