He attended country school and following he helped his Dad on the farm and as a farm hand for area neighbors including Ed Thye’s farm and apple orchard. Later he began hauling livestock to South Saint Paul. He married Mary Brock in 1945. The couple later divorced. Bill then was united in marriage to Frances Dobrantz on July 19, 1969 at United Methodist Church in Randolph.

The couple farmed just a short distance from where Bill grew up, raising pigs, corn and soybeans. Bill kept busy working on the farm well into his 80’s. Fran died in 2014. Bill entered Millstream Commons in 2015.

I always enjoyed my visits with Bill. He always was an interesting man that remembered a lot of neat stories. Good, hard working farmer is the way I will remember Bill. Rest in peace my friend.
