Jack was born February 17, 1925, the son of John C. and Jacoba (Rademacher) Albers in Terry, Montana. The family moved to Dodgeville, Wisconsin then to Phillips, Wisconsin where Jack attended elementary school. They then moved to Gurnee, Illinois where he attended high school. Following school, Jack served in the United States Army and served overseas as an Army Medic in Europe during WWII. After his honorable discharge, Jack worked as a truck driver. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Stevens in March of 1951. The couple made their home near Detroit, Michigan where he worked as a carpenter for a commercial construction company until his retirement. Dorothy passed away on January 9, 1991. Jack then met and married Catherine Gilligan in August 1991. They lived in Texas for a short while before moving to Missouri. In 2007, they moved to Dundas. Catherine passed away February 16, 2014.

Jack loved going to auctions and junk stores looking for furniture, tables and rocking chairs he could refinish. He even had a brand that he used when it was restored, “Renewed by Jack.” Jack also was a sort of animal whisperer. He loved the wildlife that came to his house. What started as visits and feedings slowly became trust and caring for them. He sometimes would even take them in his house. He built warming houses for them to rest and stay safe. Some of the animals he cared for were deer, turkeys, possums, raccoons, skunks and of course cats. They were never afraid of Jack or was he of them.

He is survived by a sister Ann (James) Gilligan of Albertville, a niece Karen (Clark) Kender of Plymouth, a nephew Mike Albers of Zion, IL, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy, his second wife Catherine and two brothers Thomas and Bart.

Funeral services for Jack will be Friday, November 10, 2017, at 11 AM at Bierman Funeral Home with Reverend Janet White and Reverend Howard White officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will be at Rolling Green Cemetery, near Northfield. Arrangements by Bierman Funeral Home. biermanfuneralhome.com

My deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time. I hope the words at Rev 21:4 bring you comfort. It tells of a time soon when there will be no more sickness, pain or death.
