Ardis Hans Bickel, age 77, passed away August 3, 2019, at Reflections on the Three Links Care Center Campus.

Ardis was born April 11, 1942, in Fargo, North Dakota the daughter of Allen and Grace (Bellmore) Hans. She was raised in Davenport, North Dakota on a farm with her four brothers and spent summer breezes on Crystal Lake in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. She attended Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo graduating and moving on to Minneapolis where she attended beauty operator school. In 1963 she met and married John H. Bickel and settled their home in Dundas raising her three daughters.

Ardis was very talented and strong-willed with her idealism. Her name fit her character, as she was very artistic. She loved to knit, crochet, sew and mostly play piano and organ for the church. Needlepoint became her retirement project, as she made numerous articulate detailed pictures and was known best to be home spending hours on these projects. Gardening was also a passion she engaged in. She was a member of the Dundas Study Club.

In 1974, she began to work for the postal service, first in Dundas and later in Northfield where she retired. In 2016 she sold the Dundas home where she raised her family and moved to Faribault into a townhome. She loved to spend mornings walking for miles and enjoyed the Nature Center. Her companion was her beloved cat, “Babe.”

Ardis is survived by her daughters Jeanna (Douglas) Machacek, Melissa Healy and Angie (Sean) Misner; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Harvey (Shirley) Hans, Kenny Hans, Jerry (Barbara) Hans and her sister-in-law Donna Hans. She was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Grace Hans, her brother Glen Hans and her former husband and friend John Bickel.

A private service will be held at Canaan Valley Moravian Church in Davenport, North Dakota. Burial will be held August 10 at 11 AM. A Celebration of Life for Ardis will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 5609 Fairbanks Path on Mazaska Lake near Faribault beginning at 1:00 PM.
