Arnold “Andy” Andersen, age 85, of Northfield formerly of Rosemount, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at the Northfield Hospital-Long Term Care. Andy was born the son of Anders and Borghild (Odigard) Anderson on November 23, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the prestigious Lane Tech High School where he graduated in 1953. Arnold “Andy” Andersen, age 85, of Northfield formerly of Rosemount, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at the Northfield Hospital-Long Term Care.

Andy was born the son of Anders and Borghild (Odigard) Anderson on November 23, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended the prestigious Lane Tech High School where he graduated in 1953. He then entered the United States Air Force in March of 1955 where he calibrated special weapons. Andy received his honorable discharge in November of 1958. Following, he attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago where he received his degree in electronics and radio communications. He moved to Norwalk, Connecticut where he was employed with Perkin-Elmer which is a global corporation focused in the business areas of diagnostic and life science research. There he met his future wife, Patricia. Andy went on to work a 30-year career with Perkin-Elmer. Over the years he worked in Connecticut and Ohio, before moving to Minnesota and settling in Rosemount. Patricia, his wife of 54 years, passed away April 30, 2017.

Andy loved camping, hunting, and fishing – especially along Minnesota’s North Shore. They owned a cabin along the Gunflint Trail in Northern Minnesota. He was a gifted woodworker carving intricate waterfowl and songbirds. He also loved tooling around on his Polaris Ranger and in earlier days motorcycling around the state.

He is survived by his three children Jeff of Eden Prairie, Jim of Oakdale and Jennifer of Oakdale. He is also survived by two grandsons Ben and Nick. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and a sister Anna Jareczek.

Private family services will be held at Church of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Northfield on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, with Father Bob Hart officiating. Arrangements by Bierman Funeral Home and Crematory. biermanfuneralhome.com.
