Danny Ayotte, age 65 of Northfield, peacefully passed away surrounded in love, with family by his side on Thursday morning, March 15, 2018. Danny Gay Ayotte was born November 5, 1952, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Gaylon and Marlys (Wickstrand) Ayotte. Danny Ayotte, age 65 of Northfield, peacefully passed away surrounded in love, with family by his side on Thursday morning, March 15, 2018.

Danny Gay Ayotte was born November 5, 1952, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Gaylon and Marlys (Wickstrand) Ayotte. At the age of six he moved with his family to Northfield and graduated from Northfield High School in 1971. He married LeaAnn Harkness on October 21, 1972, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Danny was always a worker! Some of his ventures included meat cutter, realtor, district manager for Godfather’s Pizza, manager for Sam’s Club and proprietor of the Ole Store. In 1995, Danny and LeaAnn acquired their first ServiceMaster franchise. Over the years they bought and sold several ServiceMaster franchises and made their business what it is today. Danny retired in 2014.

Danny was a member of the DJJD’s Committee – including establishing the soapbox derby, JAYCEE’s, Duck’s Unlimited, Sertoma Club, and his church communities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He was always civic minded, generous at heart, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Survivors include his son, Erik (Amy) DeHaas of Parker, Colorado, and their children Blake and Ashley; his daughters, Carrie (Brent) Buchman of Farmington and their children Carley, Lauren, Jacob and Chloe, Beth Ayotte of Northfield, and her children Jordyn, Justus and Evelyn; his former wife, LeaAnn Ayotte (Gary Polzin) of Northfield; his mother, Marlys Ayotte of Apple Valley; his sisters Renae (Daryl) Jacobson of Verndale, Cheryl (Keith) Johnson of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his son Jay, his father and his sister Lynette Polzin.

A celebration of life visitation will be held 1:30 – 5:00PM with a prayer tribute at 3:00PM, on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Bierman Funeral Home. The celebration will continue at the Grand Event Center in Northfield from 4:00 – 8:00PM Sunday evening. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Northfield, at a later date.

    I am very sorry to hear about Dan. I met Dan at the Ole when my In Laws “Haak’s” lived on Lincoln St. He was always a great guy. Always generous. He sponsored my softball team and fed us pizza even we lost…. Those were such great days. God bless his Journey.
