Elizabeth “Betty” Kanz Younger, age 92, of Northfield, passed away Sunday January 7, 2018 at the Northfield Hospital Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday January 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Church of St Dominic, 104 Linden St. N., Northfield, with Father Dennis Dempsey as celebrant. Visitation will be held Sunday January 14, 2018 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home, 1316 Division St. S., Northfield, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Elizabeth “Betty” Kanz Younger, age 92, of Northfield, passed away Sunday January 7, 2018 at the Northfield Hospital Care Center.

Elizabeth Kanz Younger, daughter of Bernard and Lucille (Kohner) Kanz was born on June 23, 1925 in Winona MN. Elizabeth attended County school and Lewiston High School, graduating in May 1943. Elizabeth’s mom passed away that year and Elizabeth raised her 8 younger siblings. Elizabeth married Oliver Younger of Dover on October 30, 1948 and they enjoyed 61 wonderful years together before Oliver passed away in 2009. The couple lived in Dover after their marriage and moved to Northfield in 1959. They raised three children, Linda, Jon and Rita. Elizabeth was a bookkeeper at Village Drug Pharmacy for 28 years, retiring in 1978.

Betty was a generous, loving, energetic, funny and very caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and an engaging and authentic friend. Her optimism, open heart, intelligence and ability to make every one she met feel treasured, is a gift and lesson to all of us.

Elizabeth is survived by children Linda (Jack) Hubbard of Oak Creek WI, Jon (Mary) Younger of Waseca, and Rita (George Willmarth) Younger of Eagan; grandchildren, Jody (Mike Wolbrink) Younger, Darin (Dianna) Younger, Claire (Pete) Mand, Rob Hubbard, Casey (Mike) Matter and Nick Willmarth, Chris Elwood, Tim (Krissy) Elwood and Jon Elwood, Kelly (Andy Kotek) Kadlec and Alexa Kadlec; great grandchildren Cole, Stevi, Sidney and Tyler, Felicia, Brady, Nathan, Ava, Tristan, Eden and Piper, and Hadley, Kolt and Frankey; sisters Geraldine (Darrell) Sturgis, Olivia (Tom) Heim, Donna (Pat) Daley, Bernadine (John) Mayzek, Mary (Jim) Paszkiewicz; sisters in law Betty Kanz and Nadine Kanz; and many god children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Oliver; daughter in law Shirley Younger; brothers Bob, Tom and Dick; sister in law Jan; niece Pat; nephew Tom; great granddaughter Lacey; great niece, Shari; great nephew, Randy; and special friend, Bob Mahoney.

    I am sorry to hear of your loss. May you find comfort in the promises at Revelation 21:4 that reads; “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more. Neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things has passed away.” The Bible gives us hope that one day our dead loved ones will be brought back to life.

Linda, Jon, Rita you were raised by a beautiful, loving, kind mom. I hadn’t seen her for a long time but think about her often.. God bless you all! She will be missed!
