Evangline “Vangie” Hall, Age 95, of Northfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Northfield Hospital – Long Term Care.

Vangie was born on December 19, 1923, the daughter of Soren and Myrtle (Anderson) Anderson in Lake Benton, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm in Ivanhoe, MN till the family moved to Northfield in 1938. Vangie graduated from Northfield High School in 1941 and married Roger Hall. Roger and Vangie celebrated 59 years together before Roger passed in 2000.

Roger and Vangie moved to Minneapolis after they were married and Vangie worked at the Wear You Well Shoe Company in the billing department for 6 years during the war. Vangie and Roger with their son Robert moved back to Northfield, where they settled and made their lifelong home. For the next 15 years Vangie was the manager of the local Montgomery Ward Catalog Store in Northfield. Vangie then was hired as the Northfield City Clerk/Treasurer and Recorder. She attended and recorded the minutes for the City Council meetings, managed the Payroll, Utilities, DMV departments, and also managed the City financial Bookkeeping & Investments. She took pride and was very dedicated to the City of Northfield in this position for 23 years till she retired in 1987.

During the summer Roger and Vangie spent time camping, boating and fishing with family and many friends every weekend. Their passion and love of antique collecting also filled their time on the weekends. They had many antique collections, among them sets of beautiful glassware. They were always attending local auctions in search of “missing pieces” and new treasures to add to their collections.

Vangie enjoyed hobbies such as crocheting and quilting but mostly enjoyed her trips to the Casino with friends to play video poker and bingo. Vangie also loved playing any and all card games especially Euchre. It was well known that she had the “good-luck-family-gene” as she was always the winner!

Vangie was an active board member as Secretary/Treasurer of Presidents Way Townhome HOA for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and member of St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Vangie is survived by her daughter-in-law Emerald (Rice); two grandchildren Lyn (Michael) Hunt and Steve (Anne) Hall; and two great grandchildren Alex and Alicia Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger; her son Robert and her two sisters Geraldine Bryant and Dorothy Ashburn.
