Leroy Daniel Pflaum, age 69 passed away peacefully in his home February 6, 2020, surrounded by his family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 26, 1950, to LeRoy and Janice Pflaum in Dennison MN. He was a graduate of Northfield Highschool in 1968 and a Mankato State University Graduate of 1972 with double major in Business Accounting and Parks and Recreation. Dan met his bride Patricia there in 1969 and they wed September 2, 1972. After a brief residency in Rochester, Dan and Patty moved to Nerstrand to maintain his stepfathers farm. There he educated himself in the fundamentals of farming and becoming a steward for the land that he so loved. It was here that Dan and Patty raised two children and created a sanctuary of beautiful gardens, for which he had a strong passion. He always had a big smile on his face when he was planting flowers, particularly hosta and lilies. Often, he would escape to a garden store and return with more plants, trees, and flowers than he could possibly conceal from his wife. Dan and Patty were able to enjoy many trips together, as well as with family and friends. Always witty and full of humor he had a nickname for everyone and had a contagious smile.
You would find him in his garden, on the beach, tinkering in his shop or relaxing to one of his many favorite westerns, sitcom reruns or sporting events.
He had an infectious laugh and will be immeasurably missed by his wife of 47 years, children Kari (Keith) of Mankato and Bruce (Jenna) Milwaukee, as well as the three lights of his life, his granddaughters, Clara, Marnie Grace, and Rose, his sister Jackie of anchorage Ak, as well as loving cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Proceeded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, aunts, uncles and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be at Dennison Lutheran Church on Sunday, February 9, 2020, beginning at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Paul Graham officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. A reception to celebrate Dan’s life will be at the Grand Event Center in Northfield on Sunday following the service beginning at 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Minnesota Landscape Arboretum www.arboretum.umn.edu, select donate and then memorials/tributes or Dennison Lutheran Church. Patty and Jackie,

I was saddened to hear of Dan’s illness with cancer. I have fond memories of the growing up years in Dennison. One summer I cooked meals for his stepdad and brother in the home where you live, Patty. I hear that you have a beautiful farm and gardens. I will notify my sister, Nancy (Revier) Urfer and brother, David Revier of Dan’s passing.
