Mary Gasho, age 76 of Northfield, passed away Saturday morning, December 8, 2018, at The Moments Memory Care in Lakeville. Mary Alice Brainerd Gasho was born November 17, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Delbert and Coral (Allen) Brainerd. She graduated from Ft. Dodge High School in 1960. Mary Gasho, age 76 of Northfield, passed away Saturday morning, December 8, 2018, at The Moments Memory Care in Lakeville.

Mary Alice Brainerd Gasho was born November 17, 1942, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Delbert and Coral (Allen) Brainerd. She graduated from Ft. Dodge High School in 1960. On December 27, 1961, she married Bill Gasho at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. After marriage they made their home in Wabasso, Minnesota, until moving to Northfield in 1965. In 1967, Mary and Bill adopted their twin daughters Kathie and Susie. In 1972, son Nick was born. In the late 1970’s, Mary began working for the Northfield School District as an education assistant, first at Sibley School and later Longfellow. She retired in 1998.

Mary was member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and of various Bridge groups, book clubs as well as a 12-woman birthday group. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and travel – especially river boat cruises in Europe. She loved her family and friends and cherished the time spent with them.

Survived by her husband of 56 years, Bill; her children, Kathie (Kent) Deavers of Savage, Susie (Steve) Rezac of Northfield, Nick (Rachelle) Gasho of St. Paul; her grandchildren, Jake Deavers, Kacie Deavers Noah Gasho and Jonah Gasho; her brothers, Tom (Marilyn) Brainerd of Fort Dodge, Dee (Georgia) Brainerd of Estherville, Iowa, and Jim (Carol) Brainerd of Bettendorf, Iowa; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Service will be 11:00AM, Friday, December 14, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Northfield. A reception will follow. Honorary Pallbearers are Jake Deavers, Kacie Deavers, Noah Gasho and Jonah Gasho. Visitation will be 4-7PM, Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM on Friday at the church. Mary’s remains will be placed in St. John’s Columbarium. Her brain has been donated to Alzheimer’s research.
