Mary Louise Christensen, age 72, of Farmington died Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Mary was born on April 21, 1946 on the family farm northwest of Northfield. She would grow up in the Northfield area and attend school there. After meeting the love of her life, Al Christensen, they would marry on August 28, 1965 and move to Faribault where they would stay until the early 70’s when they moved to Farmington. Mary Louise Christensen, age 72, of Farmington died Thursday, June 7, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Mary was born on April 21, 1946 on the family farm northwest of Northfield. She would grow up in the Northfield area and attend school there. After meeting the love of her life, Al Christensen, they would marry on August 28, 1965 and move to Faribault where they would stay until the early 70’s when they moved to Farmington. They would stay in Farmington for the rest of their lives where Mary assisted Al with the family lock business. They had two daughters, Dawn and Jennifer, during this time. They would later enjoy the company of their granddaughter Britani as well.
Mary enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting, crocheting, gardening, baking, and spending time at her brother Ray’s house. She loved decorating her house for Halloween and scaring the different children that would come looking for candy. It is also known that Mary was a professional clown and in many parades around the Northfield/Farmington area, but her favorite was the annual Jesse James Days Parade in Northfield.
Mary was loved by her family and friends. Her heart was expressed through many special things. A couple of them being their family trips yearly to Disneyworld and her hour-long conversations each day with her sister Cookie. She enjoyed life and was always there to brighten the lives of others. She will be deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years, Alfred; daughters Dawn of Northfield, Jennifer (Chris) Saffle of Farmington; granddaughter Britani (Breanna) Christensen-Lair of Newburg, MO; sisters Sharon “Cookie” Kinard of Farmington, Tammy Bess of Dundas; and many other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Ardel Trahan; brothers Raymond Trahan and Larry Trahan.
There will be a service in memory of Mary at 6:30 PM on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Bierman Funeral Home, 1316 Division Street, Northfield, with a visitation from 4-7 PM the same day at Bierman Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date at Prairie Creek Cemetery, Northfield.
