Norman Thomas Torbenson, age 89, of Castle Rock, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at the Northfield Hospital-Long Term Care. Norman was born in Northfield on January 25, 1930, son of Kathryn and Carl Torbenson. Norman was welcomed into Heaven by his wife of 60 years, Joan, his daughter, Kay, his grandson, John, his brother, Robert, and his parents. Norman graduated from Northfield High School in 1948. Norman Thomas Torbenson, age 89, of Castle Rock, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at the Northfield Hospital-Long Term Care.

Norman was born in Northfield on January 25, 1930, son of Kathryn and Carl Torbenson. Norman was welcomed into Heaven by his wife of 60 years, Joan, his daughter, Kay, his grandson, John, his brother, Robert, and his parents.

Norman graduated from Northfield High School in 1948. He married his life-long love at Castle Rock United Methodist Church on August 25, 1956.

He took incredible pride in their Century Farm, his community, family, and friends. Attending family events and activities, a beautiful garden, being a member of Castle Rock Methodist Church, the Castle Rockers and Monday morning coffee with friends were a few of his favorites.
Norman was known for many things – his strong faith, generous heart, unwavering support, an insatiable sweet tooth, and a true value for the ones he loved. Norman is a gift to many and a legacy for many generations. His memory will be carried on by his three children, 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son Keith, daughter-in-law, Diane, grandchildren, Emily and Ryan; daughter, Linda Cloud, son-in-law, Scott, grandchildren, Kaitlin (Mike) Thompson and Ben (Amy) Cloud, and great-granddaughters, Grace and Clara Thompson; son, Larry, daughter-in-law, Natalie, grandchildren, Annika, Cassie and Roscoe; son-in-law, Jerry Hughitt (Kathy), granddaughters, Sarah (Dan) Belcourt, Mary (Matthew) Severson, Laura (Danny) Monahan, and Rachel Hughitt, great-grandchildren, Norah and Jacob Belcourt, step-grandchildren, Carrie, Natalie (Ian Richter) and Bruce Witschorik; half-sisters, Carol Antone & Diane (Rich) Arvidson; half-brother, Gary Torbenson

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 7, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and one hour prior to the service in the church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 8 at Faith United Methodist Church in Farmington. Arrangements by Bierman Funeral Home and Crematory.
