Pam was born on January 24, 1948, in Minneapolis, to Bernard and Dorothy (Mathias) Schurhamer. She grew up in Faribault and graduated from Faribault High School. Pam continued her education at Mankato State University for a few years and later, received an associate degree from Faribault Vocational School. In 1969, Pam married Jim Black and the couple made their home in Northfield. This is where they welcomed and raised three children, Kari, Melissa, and Mike. In 2016, Pam and Jim returned to Northfield.  Pam was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed shopping, collecting antiques, and reading.
