Robert “Bob” Hall, age 76, formerly of Northfield, MN, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 7, 2018, in Orlando, FL, after a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Robert was born the son of Roger and Evangline (Anderson) Hall on December 16, 1941, in Northfield. He graduated from Northfield High School in 1959. Bob was united in marriage to Emerald Rice in October 1962 at St Peters Lutheran Church in Northfield, they were blessed to share 55 years together. Bob enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1961 and served in the Marine Reserves till 1966. Bob was known to many as the “Candyman” as he owned and operated a full-line vending machine business. His candy and vending machines were seen throughout the Northfield community. Bob and Emerald moved to Florida in 1984 after selling their business. They continued to be entrepreneurs, owning and operating several businesses in Florida until Bob retired in 2007.

Bob’s joy and passion was collecting antiques and going to auctions on weekends. He loved collecting old coin-operated machines, antique advertising, antique tin toys, and antique cars. Bob especially had a love for his 1965 pony Mustang that he was restoring. Bob also had a love of old steam trains and many vacations included riding steam trains that operated throughout the US. He even purchased a Soo Line caboose for a future lake cabin. Bob will be remembered for his great love of family as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. He loved and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Bob will also be remembered for the many life lessons he passed on to his family, especially his great sense of humor and quick wit – he was always ready to share a smile, a joke, and a good laugh.

He is survived by his wife Emerald of Orlando, FL; a daughter Lynette “Lyn” (Michael) Hall Hunt of Cape Canaveral, FL; a son Steven (Anne) of Longwood, FL; two grandchildren Alexander “Alex” and Alicia; and his mother, Evangline “Vangie” of Northfield. He was preceded in death by his father Roger (August 11, 2000).

Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 1-2 PM on Saturday, July 21, 2018, followed by a Memorial service at 2 PM, both will be held at Bierman Funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield. Arrangements by Bierman Funeral home. biermanfuneralhome.com
