Obituary for Robert “Bob” Strachan

Robert J. Strachan, 81, of Northfield died March 31, 2020 at the Reflections Care Suites on the Three Links Campus in Northfield. He was born in Castle Rock area to Alvin “Pinky” and Joyce (Pryor) Strachan. Raised on the family farm with his sisters Judy and Val, and brother Doug. They grew up loving sports, animals, and outdoor life. Robert J. Strachan, 81, of Northfield died March 31, 2020 at the Reflections Care Suites on the Three Links Campus in Northfield.

He was born in Castle Rock area to Alvin “Pinky” and Joyce (Pryor) Strachan. Raised on the family farm with his sisters Judy and Val, and brother Doug. They grew up loving sports, animals, and outdoor life.

Bob and Sandra (Dolny) were married February 15, 1958 in Minneapolis.   He pursued careers in banking and sales, working in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, and Saskatchewan. He was very happy to come back to the family farm in the 90’s and tended the grass and cattle there with great love and energy until his health diminished in recent years.

Bob is survived by his wife Sandy of Northfield; sons David (Sheri) of Northfield and Dan (Shari) of Missoula, MT; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings mentioned above.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son Dale.

A family service is expected later this year.
