Robert L. Broderick, age 84, of Northfield, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at his home. Robert was born March 9, 1934, the son of Martin and Irene (Malloy) Broderick at home in Webster Township. There he was raised and attended District 42 school. He also attended Immaculate Conception parochial school in Lonsdale as well as St. Lawrence. Following school, Robert worked for Montgomery Wards in St. Paul and worked as a roofer. Robert L. Broderick, age 84, of Northfield, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at his home.

Robert was born March 9, 1934, the son of Martin and Irene (Malloy) Broderick at home in Webster Township. There he was raised and attended District 42 school. He also attended Immaculate Conception parochial school in Lonsdale as well as St. Lawrence. Following school, Robert worked for Montgomery Wards in St. Paul and worked as a roofer. He entered the United States Army on March 1, 1954, serving during the Korean War. Robert received his honorable discharge on February 13, 1957, and returned to the Webster area. He was united in marriage to Gladyce Clausen on September 28, 1957, at Church of the Annunciation in Hazelwood. The couple moved to St. Paul before returning to Webster Township. Robert worked in the commercial roofing industry for 35 years including DuPay Roofing when he retired. Following, he was employed with the Northfield Hospital as a custodian for 20 years.

Robert enjoyed playing Euchre every chance he got normally playing three times or more a week and whenever there was a tournament. He also enjoyed playing poker, the slot machines and in his younger years enjoyed hunting and fishing. He tended up to three gardens and always shared his produce with everyone. Another favorite pastime of Robert’s was playing baseball, softball, and kitten ball. Robert was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan as well. Robert and Gladyce enjoyed many trips together over the years. Traveling to Hawaii, Mexico, California, Florida, Texas, Las Vegas and Laughlin were some of their favorite vacations.

Robert is survived by his wife, Gladyce of Northfield; his children, Renee (Joe) Rezac of Northfield, Robert (Tammy) Broderick of Oakdale, Martin Broderick of Apple Valley, Sherri (Randall) Jacobson of New Prague, Jerry (Michele) Broderick of Maurice, IA, and Julie (Scott) Meyer of New Prague. Robert is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren with two more on the way in April; his siblings, Alice Paro of Northfield, Donna (Wayne) Bauernfeind of Faribault, Bill (Jane) DuPay of Webster, Joan Herda of Faribault, and Gail (Melvin) Smisek of Faribault. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Marie; his parents; his stepfather, Bill DuPay; siblings, Darlene Tripp, Darrel Oppegard, Charlotte DuPay, Joe DuPay and Colleen DuPay.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Church of the Annunciation on Monday, March 26, 2018, beginning at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at Bierman Funeral Home on Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 2 PM to 5 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Bobby was so loved at 4 Seasons in Brownsville, Texas for his sense of humour, his love for all people, his beautiful personality. He always made people laugh around the poker table.
