Wayne A. Little, age 88, of Northfield, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, at Evergreen Lodge of the Northfield Retirement Community with his family at his side. Wayne was born November 9, 1929, the son of George and Alice (Fremouw) Little in Dundas, Minnesota. He attended District 15 (Little Prairie) country school and graduated from Northfield High School. Wayne A. Little, age 88, of Northfield, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, at Evergreen Lodge of the Northfield Retirement Community with his family at his side.

Wayne was born November 9, 1929, the son of George and Alice (Fremouw) Little in Dundas, Minnesota. He attended District 15 (Little Prairie) country school and graduated from Northfield High School. He then furthered his education at the University of Minnesota Ag School. Wayne served in the United States Army 1953-55 as a MP in Germany. After receiving his honorable discharge, Wayne returned to the Dundas area and would go into business with his brother, Stan, at Northfield Farm Service.

Wayne was united in marriage to Elvy Swanson on April 4, 1959, at Oak Knoll Lutheran Church in Minneapolis and the couple made their home in Northfield. In 1978, Wayne bought Stan’s share of the business and closed the business in 1986. Wayne then worked as a licensed realtor serving the Northfield and Faribault area. Wayne was a hard worker all his life and even when most would retire, he continued working for Petricka Grocery and Cub Foods.

Wayne was very devoted to his family and to Little Prairie United Methodist Church. He was a member of Gideons International, the Lions Club, the administrative board at church and Rice County Fair Board.

Wayne is survived by his sons Ed (Gina) of Faribault, Paul (Tonyia) of Northfield, Harlan (Coleen) of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren Amanda (Chad) Starkson, Nathan (Hailie), Kenny and Marybeth Little, Ben (Bekky) Harkins, and Claire Little; great-grandchildren Ethan Little, Caden Starkson, and Kestrel Harkins. He is also survived by his brother Doug of Dundas; two sisters Florence (Neil) Wobschall of Centennial, CO, Doris Bickel in Arizona; and two sisters-in-law Carol Little of Northfield and Shirley Little of Faribault. He was preceded in death by his wife Elvy, a son Curt, his parents, brothers Lloyd, Robert, Donald, Stanley and Harold, sisters Hazel Williams, Betty Duchene, sisters-in-law Ruth Little, Anna Mae Little, Nona Little and brothers-in-law Roger “Bill” Williams, Gerald Bickel, and Wilfred “Duke” Duchene.

Funeral services will be held at Little Prairie United Methodist Church on Friday, September 28, 2018 beginning at 11 AM. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Bierman Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

    They don’t make them like Wayne Little any more. The definition of a stand-up guy. No BS with Wayne. He wrote our PA on our first home. I worked with him for a couple years. Class act. Hecuva sense of humor. He could have been a character on The Andy Griffith Show. A giant loss for the Northfield area. My condolences to all family and friends of Wayne. Andy Matson.
