Carmen Hussey age 89 of Northfield, MN passed away Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Northfield Hospital Long Term Care Center with family around her. Born April 19, 1926 in Northfield to William and Ida (Hall) Olson. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1945. After graduation she worked at the Stuart Hotel in Northfield until marrying Dorsey Hussey August 4, 1948. They later divorced.

Carmen was an active volunteer at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Northfield Senior Center until her stroke 4 years ago. She was part of the Luv Ladies at church that quilts for charities as well as other charitable activities. She also volunteered in other capacities at the church and at the Senior Center. Carmen worked at the Northfield Retirement Center, in the kitchen, as one of the original staff for 16 years.

Carmen loved to travel and visited Branson, the New England states, Canada, Ireland and cruised to the Caribbean to name a few. She will be greatly missed by friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter Connie (Erling) Halverson, son Wayne and Debra (Mendoza) Hussey, grandsons Jeremy Hussey and Joshua Halverson and granddaughter Daphne Hussey. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Gary and James; grandson Benjamin Halverson; sister Lorraine Gunderson and brother Lloyd Olson.

Visitation will be at the Bierman Funeral Home Wednesday, July 22 from 4-7pm with a celebration of her life at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Thursday, July 23 at 10:30. Burial will be at the Red Rose Cemetery.
