Donald Snyder, age 77, of Northfield and formerly of Apple Valley, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the Northfield Care Center. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Chapel of the Northfield Retirement Community, with burial at the Lebanon Cemetery in Apple Valley. Visitation will be Saturday at the Chapel 1 hour prior to Services.

Donald Richard Snyder was born on November 21, 1937 in Superior, Wisconsin to Earl and Esther Snyder. He graduated from Central High School in Superior. Following high school, he completed a degree in a two-year college and started his working career at Northwest Airlines.

On January 7, 1961 he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Dute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota in 1964 and started their family. They raised 3 wonderful daughters in the same residence for 50 years. Donald was an employee of Western, and then Delta Airlines. In retirement, Barb and Don escaped to Bradenton, Florida for the winter months, where they enjoyed warm leisurely days, spectacular sunsets and many happy moments with special friends from around the world.

Don was a devoted husband, a loving father, a wonderful grandfather, and a proud great-grandpa. He enjoyed metal detecting, coin collecting, birdwatching, bike riding, fishing, and he wrote the most amazing poetry.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents, Earl and Esther Snyder and his brother Robert Snyder. He is survived by his daughters Sharon (Matt) Thieding, Linda (Paul) VanZuilen and Diane Snyder. Other survivors include 4 grandchildren, Kelly (Troy) Siemers, Crystal (Nick) Stocker, Tyler (DeAnna) VanZuilen, Tavia VanZuilen, as well as 5 great grandchildren.

Memorials are preferred to the Northfield Retirement Community Faith Park.
