Raymond Stenhaug, 83, of Rochester, formerly of Dennison, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

He was born September 22nd, 1931, in Warsaw Township, MN to John and Ida (Berge) Stenhaug, grew up on the family farm close to Dennison, and graduated from Kenyon high school in 1949. Ray then served four years in the Air Force. He met Marian Supple on a blind date and was married on June 22, 1957.

After settling in Dennison, MN shortly after their marriage, Ray and Marian ran the family oil business for over 40 years. Ray had a quick wit, always carried a steady and friendly demeanor, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and bowling. He and Marian traveled to Norway, Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona and many fishing trips to northern MN. They both were active members of Vang Lutheran Church, and spent a lot of time traveling to observe their grandchildren’s activities.

Ray is survived by his three sons, Steven (Carmen), David (Sara), and Bruce (Krista); seven grandchildren, Aaron (Erin), Camille (Sean) McVenes, Rachel, Susan, Elizabeth, Ben and Kalin. Also surviving Ray is his brother Don (Jan) Stenhaug, sisters-in-law Bernice Stenhaug and Lucy Lembke, and brother-in-law Don (Lois) Supple.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Joel Stenhaug, sisters-in-law Doris Supple and Margaret Mehlhouse, and brothers-in-law Ed Lembke, Wallace Supple, and John Mehlhouse.

Visitation will be at Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield, MN on Sunday, March 29th from 4-7 p.m. The funeral service will be at Vang Lutheran Church in rural Dennison on Monday, March 30th at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. The funeral will be officiated by Reverend Paul Graham.
