John Bickel, age 77, of Dundas, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016, at Cottages on Forest-Three Links Care Center.

John was born September 21, 1939 in Faribault, the son of Arthur and Malinda (Hildebrandt) Bickel. He was raised in Dundas and graduated from Northfield High School class of ’58. John then worked construction in Apple Valley before entering the United States Army. He served with the 328 Ordinance Co during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned in Dundas. He was united in marriage to Ardis Hans on August 31, 1963. The couple made their home in Dundas where their home overlooked the Dundas Ball Park. John enjoyed sitting outside watching the Dukes. He was employed at Sheldahl Inc. for over 38 years retiring in 2001.

John and Ardis spent 10 years wintering in Yuma, AZ. He loved following the Minnesota Vikings and once said that he hoped to be alive to see the Vikings win the Super Bowl. Sadly, he passed away four months too early. He enjoyed visiting and having a good time with family and friends. He also loved being outdoors at the cabin, hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed by his family.

John is survived by his three daughters Jeanna (and Doug) Machacek of Nerstrand, Melissa (and Mike) Healy of Faribault, Angie (and Sean) Misner of South St. Paul, a sister, Barbara (and Walter) Schultz of Billings, MT, and his wife Ardis of Faribault. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur (1975) and Malinda (1999.)

A Celebration of Life and reception for John will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 4 to 7 at Bierman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

Thank you Larry and Bonniie. I would like to think he is going to join the rest of deceased residence of Dundas, cheering on the Dundas Dukes. Great memories growing up by the park
