Jodi Lynn Moen Bennett was born September 10, 1974 in Ortonville, MN, daughter of Chris and Donna (Blanshan) Moen. She lived and attended school in Ortonville through 5th grade and was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville. In 1985 her family moved to Northfield where she graduated from Northfield High School in 1992.

She then continued a family tradition when she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving during Desert Storm reaching the rank of Airman 1st Class. Following her discharge, she enrolled at Mankato State University and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Development while also raising her 2 daughters. Jodi then began working for Head Start in Northfield.

Jodi took a new position at St. Olaf College in the Department of International and Off Campus Studies where she was still employed. She also worked part time for Laura Baker Services as a house parent in one of their group homes.

Jodi was active with the Northfield United Methodist Church for many years, first with her Youth Group and going on Mission Trips, and as an adult teaching Sunday School. She was an avid reader, loved spicy foods, but her true passion was her husband, children, and her family.

I’m sincerely sorry for the family’s loss 🙁 I just talked to her while I was at work and she came through my register line last week. She was always so nice at our church and whenever I’d see her at Brudgewatsr for Maddie and Randi. Prayers and thoughts go out to the family and close friends of this family. Sending all my love. She was very patient and accepting and down to earth from what I can remember at least. Again, very sorry for your loss

I got to know Randi at NHS when I worked there. I became more familiar with Jodi and the family when I worked at the nursery at NUMC. Randi – the last time I spoke with your Mom, she was so very proud that you had found your “calling” with your college degree and future. She and I both raised our arms in victory that you were well on your way to a strong future, one where you can embrace your true talents. Know I am here for you and know I am praying for extra strength for you now and in the future.

We are so saddened by this great loss. During our daycare days, we saw Jodi (and Rourke) each day at Leslie’s and enjoyed our conversations. In more recent years, it was each Wednesday night and Sunday morning at church. She was always willing to help me with watching kids while we were at church, as Maria would want to eat with Rourke. We are keeping your family close in thought and prayer.
