Jodi Lynn Moen Bennett, age 42 of Northfield, MN, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Emergency Room of the Northfield Hospital. Funeral Services will be 11 am Wednesday, March 22nd at the Northfield United Methodist Church with visitation Tuesday from 4 –7 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and at the Church on Wednesday one hour prior to Services.
Jodi Lynn Moen Bennett was born September 10, 1974 in Ortonville, MN, daughter of Chris and Donna (Blanshan) Moen. She lived and attended school in Ortonville through 5th grade and was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville. In 1985 her family moved to Northfield where she graduated from Northfield High School in 1992.
She then continued a family tradition when she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving during Desert Storm reaching the rank of Airman 1st Class. Following her discharge, she enrolled at Mankato State University and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Development while also raising her 2 daughters. Jodi then began working for Head Start in Northfield.
On July 1, 2006, she was united in marriage to Shawn William Bennett at Valley Grove Church and they made their home in Northfield. Jodi took a new position at St. Olaf College in the Department of International and Off Campus Studies where she was still employed. She also worked part time for Laura Baker Services as a house parent in one of their group homes.
Jodi was active with the Northfield United Methodist Church for many years, first with her Youth Group and going on Mission Trips, and as an adult teaching Sunday School. She was an avid reader, loved spicy foods, but her true passion was her husband, children, and her family.
Jodi Moen Bennett is survived by her husband Shawn Bennett; daughters Randi and Madeline Orr; son Rourke Bennett; parents Chris and Donna Moen all of Northfield; grandmothers Mary Jane Moen and Laura Blanshan; mother and father-in-law Bill and Sheree Bennett of Davenport, IA; sisters-in-law Sarah Bennett and Kim (Clay) Huffstutler; grandparents-in-law Robert Marcussen and Bill and Mary Bennett; nephews Miles Bennett and Jackson Huffstutler, and niece Erin Huffstutler; and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by grandparents Howard Blanshan, O.C. Moen, and Nancy Marcussen.
