Charles “Chuck” Richard Knapper, age 91 of Faribault, formerly of Northfield, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2018. Charles was born in Leader, MN October 3, 1927. He attended school in Leader and later entered the United States Army in 1946. He was united in marriage to Margaret Shequen on November 24, 1951, in Leader. Charles “Chuck” Richard Knapper, age 91 of Faribault, formerly of Northfield, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2018.

Charles was born in Leader, MN October 3, 1927. He attended school in Leader and later entered the United States Army in 1946. He was united in marriage to Margaret Shequen on November 24, 1951, in Leader. They moved to Deerwood, Minnesota where he worked as a mechanic. The couple moved to Northfield where he worked for Enfield Motors and AAA.

An opportunity came up for Charles and Margaret to purchase Culligan Water systems in Northfield which he owned and operated for 19 years. After retiring, Charles and Margaret enjoyed winters in Arizona and summers at their bay lake cabin with family and friends.

Charles had an extreme love for family and enjoyed many years of fishing at the family cabin, he also enjoyed hunting, golfing (with many friends and family) and a love of woodworking. Charles was a Mason in Northfield for many years. He also was a Shriner and a member of the Northfield Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret; his children Ron (Cheryl) of Becker, Jerry (Cindi) of Lancaster, WI, Debbie (Bob) Butterfield of Faribault, and Sue (Alan) Felber of New Ulm. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren Malinda (Jeremie), Alison (Ali), Betsy, Kayley (Bob), Shawn (Nissa), Laurissa (Derrick), Christopher, Andy (Allyn), Megan and Mike. Charles was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren Arleigh, Ashton, Brennin, Blake, Carter, Amber, Payton, Jaeda, Westen, Ryder, Augustus, Ellie, Mason, Finnley and Mac; sister Alice Granby of Staples; and brother Albert (Joanne) of Wheaton; Charles was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Alice (Erickson) Knapper, brothers Harold, Marvin, Ernie, George, Martin, Irvin; sister Marie and great-grandson Boden Pudlick.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018, beginning at 11 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. Visitation will be held at Bierman Funeral Home on Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 2 PM to 5 PM and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery, Northfield. Arrangements are with Bierman Funeral Home. www.biermanfuneralhome.com

    So sorry to hear of his passing. I enjoyed cutting his hair and visiting with himwhen he would stop in at the great clips. He was a great neighbor when I was growing up.i will alway remember him fondly. Love Dena Jensen Eggum and Ruth send her sympathies to the family also.🌷🌷🌷
