James “Jim” Bresnahan, 87, of Stanton, MN, died Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN. Jim was born on September 15, 1932 to Ed and Hazel Bresnahan on the family farm in Stanton, MN. James “Jim” Bresnahan, 87, of Stanton, MN, died Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN.

Jim was born on September 15, 1932 to Ed and Hazel Bresnahan on the family farm in Stanton, MN. He graduated from Randolph High School and went on to receive an associate degree from Dunwoody Institute in Building Construction.

Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served during the Korean War as a cook and heavy equipment repair specialist and was honorably discharged in 1955.

Jim lived on the family farm his entire life and worked as a carpenter with Albert Wilson Construction of Northfield and on his own.

Jim was a lifetime alum at Randolph High School and was given the fan of the year award in 1989. It was rare for Jim to miss a game. He also loved the Minnesota State Parks and visited all 67 of them. Jim was the Minnesota State Park award winner in 1991, a great source of pride.

Jim’s hobbies included photography, wood carving, gardening, camping, and traveling. He had a special love of animals, especially for all his faithful dogs over the years.

Jim is survived by Stephanie Scott of Stanton, whom he referred to lovingly as his adopted granddaughter; and his 18 nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Hazel (Zanmiller); sisters, Mary (Ray) Taylor and Margaret (Lyle) Carpenter; brother, Paul (Donna); and niece, Penny Gulasch.

A visitation for Jim will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Bierman Funeral Home, 1316 Division Street South, Northfield, MN. A mass of celebration will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Dominic, 104 Linden Street North, Northfield, MN with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Northfield.

Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota State Parks or in support of Randolph Athletics.

Arrangements are with Bierman Funeral Home, Northfield.
